The weirdest engineering disaster of all time

So here’s a story about how one miscalculation can end up in a massive disaster. Here’s the link about the story:

But for those who want a summary. It is about the oil drilling activity in Lake Peigneur, Louisiana, USA during 1980. The little miscalculation brought the engineers’ drill in a wrong path, eventually breaking into an underground salt mine which exists beside the lake. The hole created by the drill became big quickly as the water flowed through it. The grounds between the lake and the sea collapsed below sea level, leading seawater to quickly creep into the lake. Today, the former freshwater became a saltwater lake. No one died in this accident as most people there narrowly escaped death. And that adds to its weirdness.
